Get out of summer with your Cambridge Certificate.

Not a camp. An intensive Cambridge preparation course for teenagers who already have an upper-intermediate or advanced level and want to certify it in a few weeks - not a full school year. The Accelerator runs alongside our Summer Experience in July - same campus, same immersion, but with an intensive exam focus.

Exam fee is the official Cambridge fee. Students may choose to sit the exam elsewhere if they prefer - the course prepares them either way.

How Cambridge preparation works

Cambridge exam preparation typically follows a two-year path. In Year 1, students join a Pre-FCE (for B2 First) or Pre-CAE (for C1 Advanced) class to build their foundation. In Year 2, they move to the exam preparation class and sit the official Cambridge exam. Students who already hold a certificate - for example, FCE - can skip ahead to the next level. The Accelerator is designed for students who are already at the target level and ready to certify in one intensive month.

Certification at your own pace.

For teenagers and young adults who want to prepare for a Cambridge English certificate over the course of a full academic year. Weekly classes with ASB's international teachers, a structured preparation path, and an official exam at the end.

Levels: B2 First (FCE) · C1 Advanced (CAE) · C2 Proficiency (CPE)

Two preparation formats are available: a full academic year course (October to May) for thorough preparation, or an intensive three-month course (October to December) for students ready to sit the exam in the winter session.

Most students follow a two-year preparation path: Pre-FCE then FCE, or Pre-CAE then CAE. Students with an existing certificate can advance directly to the next level.

Frequently asked

What's the difference between Accelerator and the year-round Cambridge course?

Both prepare for the same Cambridge exams (B2 First, C1 Advanced), but they suit different students. The Accelerator is a full-month intensive in July for teenagers who already have the level and want to certify quickly. The year-round Cambridge course runs from October to May (or October to December for the intensive format) and follows a structured two-year preparation path: Year 1 in a Pre-FCE or Pre-CAE class, Year 2 in the exam class. Students who already hold a certificate can skip ahead.

Which summer option is right for my teenager?

If your teenager already has a strong intermediate level or above, the Accelerator may be the right fit - a full month of intensive prep and an official Cambridge exam in July. Cambridge preparation typically takes two years (Pre-FCE then FCE, or Pre-CAE then CAE), but the Accelerator is for students who are already at the target level. If your teenager wants a summer experience with English, activities, and international friends - and isn't focused on passing an exam - then Summer Experience (Middle and Upper School group) is the better choice.

Does my child need to speak English to join?

No. Children of all levels are welcome in Summer Experience and Winter programs - a brief orientation assessment is done on the first day to help teachers understand each student's level, but it's not a barrier to entry. For the Accelerator and year-round Cambridge Exams courses, a formal level test is required before enrollment to confirm readiness for B2 or C1 preparation.

Who are the teachers?

Our teaching team consists of native-level English speakers with international teaching experience, from the UK, Ireland, the US, Australia, and South Africa. They are recruited specifically for our ASB Experience programs and are fully dedicated to the English immersion experience.

Where do the programs take place?

Summer, Accelerator, and Winter programs are held on the ASB campus in Berango. The year-round Cambridge course is held at the ASB Exam Center in Indautxu, central Bilbao.

Do returning students get priority?

Yes. Returning students and their siblings receive priority registration. Places are limited and programs fill early - especially summer.

What if my child wants to join ASB as a full-time student?

Many ASB families started with an ASB Experience program. If you're interested in learning more about the school, our Admissions Team is happy to arrange a visit and walk you through the process. There's no pressure - but the door is always open.

How do I register?

Registration opens each year for summer and winter programs. Complete the online form or contact us directly. A level test will be arranged before the program starts.
